About the Role
We are looking for an experienced automotive technician to join our growing specialist workshop.
You will be working across turbochargers, DPF systems, and diesel diagnostics — a hands-on role for someone who can diagnose problems properly, not just replace parts.
Salary
£32,000 – £45,000 per year (depending on experience)
- potential for higher earnings for top-level diagnostic technicians
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose turbocharger faults (VNT, wastegate, shaft play, oil leaks, overboost/underboost)
- Assess turbo condition before removal and after installation
- Remove and refit turbochargers correctly
- Perform DPF diagnostics and professional cleaning
- Diagnose diesel engine performance issues
- Carry out ECU diagnostics and interpret live data
- Clear fault codes and reset adaptations
- Maintain high workshop and safety standards
Knowledge & Experience Required
- Strong understanding of turbo systems and failure causes
- Experience with DPF / EGR / AdBlue systems
- Ability to read and interpret live data and fault codes
- Proven diesel diagnostic experience
- Confident with diagnostic tools and workshop equipment
Ideal Candidate
- Experienced technician (not a “parts changer”)
- Strong logical fault-finding skills
- Reliable, detail-focused, and professional
- Experience in UK workshop preferred
- Team player with a good attitude
