James Ray Recruitment are working with a large firm based in Manchester seeking an experienced and motivated lawyer to join their growing Road Traffic Accident (RTA) team.
This opportunity is ideal for a Solicitor with 2+ years' PQE, a CILEX-qualified lawyer, or an experienced fee earner who has qualified through experience. They value ability, determination, and a proactive approach just as highly as formal qualifications.
You will manage your own caseload of predominantly Fast Track RTA claims, handling files from initial instruction through to trial. The role includes both pre-issue and post-issue matters, offering genuine responsibility and autonomy.
Your caseload will primarily consist of Fast Track claims, with the opportunity to work on a selection of Multi Track cases generated from high-quality, non-CMC sources.
Duties
- Manage a caseload of pre- and post-issue RTA claims from instruction through to conclusion.
- Handle all stages of the litigation process, including drafting pleadings, witness statements, and other legal documentation.
- Provide clear, practical legal advice to clients throughout the lifecycle of their claims.
- Conduct legal research to support case strategy and ensure compliance with current legislation and case law.
- Negotiate settlements with insurers and third parties to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients.
- Represent clients at court hearings where required.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced, target-driven environment while maintaining high standards of client care.
- Collaborate with colleagues and support teams to ensure cases progress efficiently and successfully.
- Keep up to date with changes in legislation, Civil Procedure Rules, and relevant legal developments.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with regulatory and firm procedures.
Person Specification
- Proven track record of successfully managing and billing a litigated RTA caseload from instruction through to conclusion.
- Demonstrable tenacity, resilience, and a proactive approach to case management.
- Strong commitment to progressing claims efficiently through litigation while achieving the best possible outcomes for clients.
- Experience handling Fast Track RTA claims, with essential knowledge of the MOJ Portal process. While the caseload is predominantly non-portal, portal experience is required.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), relevant case law, and current litigation trends, with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively.
- Experience managing litigated files through all stages of the process, including applications, contested matters, trial preparation, and disposal hearings.
- Excellent organisational, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Previous experience using the Proclaim case management system is desirable but not essential.
