Warehouse & Logistics Manager
Location: BD11 1DR
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time
Reports to: Operations Manager / Managing Director
Here at Cartonage
We are a growing family-run business specialising in the manufacture and supply of folding cartons, primarily for customers within the food sector.
We are looking for an experienced and organised Warehouse & Logistics Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our warehouse and the movement of goods into and out of the business.
This is an important role within the company. You will be responsible for ensuring that finished goods are stored correctly, customer orders are prepared and dispatched on time, incoming materials are received efficiently, and transport is organised to meet customer requirements.
You will manage a small warehouse team and work closely with our production and office teams to ensure a smooth flow of products from production through to the customer.
The Role
This is a hands-on management position for someone who likes to take ownership and make things happen.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing our warehouse and a team of approximately 3 warehouse employees.
- Organising all goods coming into and going out of the business.
- Planning and coordinating customer deliveries and collections.
- Booking and managing external transport companies and couriers where required.
- Organising the loading and unloading of vehicles.
- Ensuring finished goods are correctly stored, picked and dispatched.
- Making sure customer orders are ready and delivered on time.
- Working closely with production to plan the movement and storage of finished goods.
- Ensuring incoming materials are received, checked and stored correctly.
- Maintaining accurate stock records and investigating discrepancies.
- Managing warehouse space and ensuring it is kept organised.
- Ensuring the warehouse is clean, tidy and operated safely.
- Managing our forklifts and ensuring appropriate servicing, inspections and operator requirements are maintained.
- Developing and improving warehouse and goods-in/goods-out procedures.
- Managing paperwork and delivery documentation.
- Dealing with transport problems, delivery delays and other logistical issues.
- Monitoring transport and delivery costs and looking for ways to improve efficiency.
- Ensuring health & safety procedures are followed throughout the warehouse.
- Managing, training and motivating the warehouse team.
Working With the Wider Business
The successful candidate will work closely with production, sales and administration to ensure that customer orders move efficiently through the business.
You will need to be comfortable communicating with customers, suppliers, hauliers and colleagues and be able to resolve problems quickly when things don't go according to plan.
We are looking for someone who will take ownership of the warehouse and logistics operation, rather than simply manage the day-to-day workload.
The Person
We are looking for someone with previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, transport or distribution environment.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience managing a warehouse or logistics operation.
- Experience managing and motivating a small team.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- The ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
- A practical, hands-on approach.
- Good IT and administration skills.
- Experience organising deliveries and working with external transport companies.
- Experience with stock control and goods-in/goods-out procedures.
- A good understanding of warehouse health & safety.
- Forklift experience would be advantageous.
- A full UK driving licence.
Experience within manufacturing, packaging, printing or the food supply chain would be advantageous but is not essential.
Most importantly, we want someone who is reliable, organised, proactive and takes pride in running an efficient warehouse.
What We Offer
- £30,000 – £40,000 per annum depending on experience
- A key management role within a growing family-run business.

- A varied and hands-on role with the opportunity to improve and develop our processes.
