● Holds a Level 3 childcare qualification.
● Has solid knowledge of the EYFS framework, safeguarding, and early identification of SEND.
● Has at least one year experience of working with babies.
● Communicates effectively with children, families and colleagues.
● Is enthusiastic, fun, reflective and committed to fostering high-quality early years provision.
● Is passionate about childcare and promoting children's development age 0-5.
● Has a sound knowledge of how to safeguard children and can follow the procedures set out in our child protection policies and code of conduct.
JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE:
Early Years Practitioner Level 2 or 3 (Maternity Cover). May lead to permanent employment.
35 hours per week shifts between 8am-6pm 52 weeks per year (closed 1 week a year at Christmas) annual leave 26 days plus bank holidays- Christmas shut down is taken from annual leave entitlement. Annual leave increases to 31 days after 5 years’ service.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To have a good knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Welfare requirements and practice guidance.

To ensure high standards are met, operating within the Education Inspection Framework and the Early Years inspection toolkit.

To work as part of a team, contributing to providing a caring and stimulating environment that is appropriate for individual children that enables them to reach their full potential.

Record and monitor children’s progress in line with EYFS guidelines, in the role of Key Person.

Have a thorough understanding of your safeguarding responsibilities and follow the practice and procedures set out in our safeguarding policies and code of conduct.

Respect children’s life experiences and celebrate diversity in terms of language, culture, ability, race and religion.

To have good verbal and communication skills to support completion of children’s records, work with parents and other professionals.

To participate in Supervision and staff development as required by the management team. Undertake training as appropriate to meet any professional development targets or areas to be developed in the setting.

To ensure a safe play environment, checking activities and resources are safe through risk assessments both indoors and outdoors. Be proactive and responsible for reporting any concerns relating to health and safety.

To comply with all record keeping systems and nursery’s policies and procedures, respecting the confidentiality of information received.

To attend and contribute to regular staff meetings and training sessions to be held evenings and weekends.

To carry out, as necessary, any other duty deemed to commensurate with the grade and status of the post and skills and experience of the post holder.
