Cairnview Windows & Doors | Perthshire and surrounding areas
Part-time / Full-time considered | Employed or self-employed considered
At Cairnview Windows & Doors, we believe in doing things properly.
We are a family-run business built on honesty, quality workmanship, genuine customer care and pride in the service we provide. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Window & Door Surveyor to join our team and play a key part in making sure every customer’s installation starts with the right information, the right measurements and the right care.
This is an important role within Cairnview. You will visit customers’ homes after our sales team has attended, carrying out detailed technical surveys for windows and doors before products are ordered and manufactured. Your work will help make sure each job is accurate, practical and ready for a smooth installation.
We are open to discussing this role on an employed or self-employed basis. The role is expected to be part-time initially, however we would be happy to discuss full-time hours with the right person. Where full-time hours are agreed, the role may also include supporting our warehouse and wider operations team.
The Role
As our Window & Door Surveyor, you will be responsible for carrying out accurate site surveys, confirming manufacturing sizes and checking customer specifications before orders progress.
You will help identify any changes, recommendations or potential issues from the original order and make sure these are clearly communicated to the relevant teams. This is a practical, detail-focused role that helps protect the customer, the installation team and the business by making sure every job is properly checked before manufacture.
Main Duties
Your role will include:
- Attending pre-arranged customer site surveys following a visit from our sales team
- Confirming accurate manufacturing sizes for windows, doors and related products
- Checking and confirming customer specifications before products are ordered
- Identifying any changes, recommendations or potential issues from the original order
- Considering fitting requirements, access, finishes, thresholds, frame extensions, trims and any additional works required
- Identifying and recording any site-specific risks or access considerations to support safe planning and installation
- Taking clear notes and photographs to support ordering, manufacturing and installation
- Liaising with our order processing, office, warehouse and installation teams regarding any queries
- Supporting fitting teams with technical queries before or during installation where required
- Communicating with customers in a friendly, respectful and professional way
- Representing Cairnview’s values while working in customers’ homes
- Supporting the warehouse and wider operations team where required, depending on agreed hours

We are looking for someone who has:
- Minimum of 2 years’ survey experience within the fenestration industry
- Good practical knowledge of domestic window and door installation
- Window and door installation experience preferred
- Good knowledge of Scottish Building Standards and relevant installation requirements
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills

- Good health and safety awareness
Desirable
It would be helpful if you also have:
- Experience with uPVC windows, composite doors, French doors, patio doors and fully reversible windows
- A relevant fenestration, glazing or construction qualification
- CSCS/Q-card or willingness to obtain one
- Manual handling, working at height or asbestos awareness training
- Forklift experience, if supporting warehouse duties

About You
The right person for Cairnview will take pride in their work and understand how important a good survey is to the customer, the installers and the business.
You’ll be practical, reliable and honest, with the confidence to raise issues early and the care to make sure details are right. You do not need to be sales-focused for this role. We are looking for someone who is experienced, careful with the details and comfortable speaking with customers in a friendly, professional way.
