About Us
Currents Preschool is a brand-new early years setting opening in West End, built on the belief that every child has their own unique strengths and path. At Currents, we see childhood as a time to explore, discover and shine.
The name Currents reflects our ethos: every child moves at their own pace and in their own direction, just like a fish swimming through water. Our role as educators is not to push children into the same mould, but to notice their strengths, celebrate them and support them in growing confidently along their own current.
Our approach is Reggio-inspired, meaning we see children as capable, curious learners who construct knowledge through exploration, relationships and creativity. We value curiosity, sustained shared thinking, emotional understanding and learning through play.
At Currents we focus on nurturing independence, resilience and communication, creating an environment where children feel safe, seen and capable.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and reflective Deputy Manager to join our founding team.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new preschool from the very beginning. Alongside supporting high-quality teaching and learning, you will work closely with the Preschool Manager to support the day-to-day running of the setting, lead and inspire staff, and help create an engaging, child-led environment where children aged 2–5 can explore, investigate and develop confidence in their abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the daily running of the preschool alongside the Manager
- Provide high-quality care and education for children aged 2–5
- Support and model a play-based, child-led curriculum in line with the EYFS
- Lead and support staff to maintain high standards of practice
- Act as a key person, building strong relationships with children and families
- Observe children’s development and support planning for next steps
- Promote children’s independence, communication and emotional wellbeing
- Help create stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments
- Support safeguarding, health and safety, and wellbeing across the setting
- Contribute to a reflective and collaborative team culture
What We’re Looking For
- Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework
- Experience working in an early years setting
- Previous leadership or senior practitioner experience desirable
- A warm, reflective and child-centred approach
- Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills
- An interest in or understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach is desirable, though training and support will be provided
What We Offer
- The opportunity to be part of a brand-new preschool from the beginning
- A supportive and reflective working environment
- A setting that values child-led learning, curiosity and emotional development
- Opportunities for professional development as the preschool grows
