Exceptional candidates seeking a full-time opportunity will be considered.
United Fixings is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join us in a newly created, permanent part-time role. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants genuine responsibility, flexibility and the chance to shape how finance works within an established, independent and growing business.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll have the freedom to improve our reporting, strengthen financial processes and turn financial information into useful commercial insight.
What you'll be getting involved in
- Management reporting and commercial analysis.
- Budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planning.
- Banking, working capital and debtor management.
- Improving financial systems, reporting and processes.
- Exploring practical uses of AI and automation within finance.
- Supporting, mentoring and developing our existing Finance Controller.
- Working closely with the Managing Director to support better business decisions.
Who we're looking for
You'll be an experienced finance professional who is commercially minded, confident working with senior management and comfortable taking ownership. We're particularly interested in people who have improved finance processes, reporting or systems rather than simply maintained what was already there.
- Broad in-house finance experience within an SME environment.
- Strong management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow experience.
- Confidence explaining financial information, challenging assumptions and recommending action.
- Experience managing, mentoring or developing finance colleagues.
- Strong Excel and accounting-system skills.
- A recognised accountancy qualification, progress towards one, or substantial equivalent experience.
Experience within a growing, owner-managed, multi-site, wholesale, distribution, merchant or stock-based business would be particularly useful. Invoice-finance experience would also be welcomed.
Why join United Fixings?
- A genuinely flexible 2-3 day working week.
- £20,000-£30,000 actual salary - broadly equivalent to c. £50,000 FTE.
- A newly created role you can really make your own.
- Direct access to the Managing Director and genuine influence on business decisions.
- The autonomy to modernise reporting, systems and finance processes.
- A permanent role within a growing, independent and family-run business.
- The opportunity to mentor and develop another member of the finance team.
