Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Joiner/Carpenter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from residential to commercial builds, requiring precision and craftsmanship. Applicants should possess a strong understanding of carpentry techniques and be comfortable working with a range of tools and materials. Experience in fabrication, assembly, roofing, plumbing, masonry, or electrical work is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install timber frameworks, fixtures, and fittings according to project specifications
- Operate hand tools such as saws, chisels, hammers, and screwdrivers with precision
- Utilise power tools including drills, sanders, and saws safely and effectively
- Perform joinery tasks including fitting doors, windows, staircases, and cabinetry
- Carry out roofing tasks including installation and repairs as required
- Engage in heavy lifting of materials safely to ensure smooth workflow on-site
- Assist with construction painting where necessary to complete projects
- Collaborate with other trades such as plumbing, electrical, masonry to ensure seamless project delivery
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment while adhering to health and safety standards
Skills
- Proven experience in carpentry or joinery with a strong portfolio of completed projects
- Proficiency in fabrication and assembly techniques
- Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools for various carpentry tasks
- Knowledge of roofing installation and repair processes
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely over extended periods
- Basic understanding of construction painting, plumbing, masonry, or electrical systems is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
- Good communication skills to work effectively within a team environment
