Working at the Gardener's Cottage Café:
It is important that you are able to work in a fast-paced environment and be prepared to take on and learn a variety of responsibilities. This position is scheduled on an as-needed basis, offering flexibility depending on business demands, and is best suited to someone with good availability throughout the week. A minimum of 10–15 hours per week is expected.
Responsibilities:
We are particularly looking for someone who is eager to grow within the role. After settling into the team and becoming confident in day-to-day operations, there will be the opportunity to take on greater responsibility, including assisting with supervising shifts and eventually helping to run the café. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience who is looking to step into a more senior position over time, taking on managerial responsibilities, including overseeing the day-to-day running of the café and its staff.
We hope our staff will settle in and eventually acquire a versatile skill set, which will include:
- Barista skills
- Cashier/till management
- Food preparation & handling
- Customer service and interaction
- Cleaning duties
- Assisting with social media
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a café or hospitality setting is advantageous.
- Strong customer service skills and a friendly demeanour.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- A fast learner who is resourceful.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Flexibility with availability, as this business is seasonal and weather-dependent.
