Rainbow Childcare is entering an exciting new phase, and we are looking for a confident, driven and experienced practitioner to step into a Unit Manager role within our setting.
This is not a traditional room leader position.
This is an opportunity to lead a team, shape practice, and drive standards within a busy and rewarding early years environment.
The Role
As a Unit Manager, you will take responsibility for a nursery unit of up to 30 children and a team of practitioners.
You will:
- Lead high-quality care and learning in line with EYFS
- Create a safe, stimulating and well-organised environment
- Support and develop your team through day-to-day leadership
- Ensure strong routines, structure and consistency across the unit
- Build positive and professional relationships with parents
Leadership Time & Support
We recognise that strong leadership requires time and space.
As part of this role, you will receive:
- Protected time out of ratio to:
- Plan and organise your unit
- Complete leadership responsibilities
- Support staff development
- Dedicated time to:
- Mentor and coach your team
- Review practice and standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement
You will be supported by an experienced management team and will not be expected to manage these responsibilities alone.

- Has strong experience in early years practice
- Is confident leading and supporting others
- Can maintain high standards in a busy environment
- Communicates clearly with both staff and parents
- Takes pride in organisation, routines and presentation
- Understands safeguarding and their responsibilities fully
Key Skills & Experience
- Level 3 qualification in Early Years (minimum)
- Strong knowledge of EYFS
- Experience working within a nursery setting
- Previous experience supporting or leading a team (desirable)
