Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to provide compassionate assistance and care within a care home environment specialising in senior care. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting residents’ wellbeing, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and comfortable living space. The role involves supervising activities, implementing care plans, and maintaining effective communication with residents and colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities such as personal care, mobility, and medication reminders
- Support residents in participating in social activities and recreational programmes to promote mental and physical wellbeing
- Implement individualised care plans under supervision, ensuring personalised support tailored to each resident’s needs
- Supervise and monitor residents’ safety, responding promptly to any concerns or emergencies
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in residents’ conditions to senior staff
- Foster a positive environment through empathetic communication and respectful interactions
- Assist with organisational tasks such as preparing documentation and updating care records using IT systems
- Support colleagues by supervising new staff or trainees when required, demonstrating leadership qualities
Skills
- Experience working in a care home or senior care setting is highly desirable
- Supervising experience with the ability to lead and motivate team members effectively
- Strong communication skills to interact clearly with residents, families, and team members
- Ability to develop and follow detailed care plans tailored to individual needs
- Driving licence is advantageous for supporting residents’ outings or appointments
- Proficiency in IT systems for record keeping and reporting purposes
- Compassionate nature with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating leadership qualities when necessary
