£30-£35 per hour | 15 Hours per Week | Face-to-Face Alternative Provision
Study Mind is seeking an experienced and resilient tutor to provide 15 hours per week of 1:1 tuition for a Year 10 student in Bournemouth who is currently accessing Alternative Provision following a permanent exclusion.
This is an excellent opportunity for a tutor with experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, disengagement from education, attendance difficulties, and behavioural challenges.
About the Student
- Year 10 male student
- Working towards GCSEs in English, Maths and Science
- Academically capable and has previously demonstrated strong attainment
- Enjoys sport, art, Computer Science, Maths and Science
- Aspires to become an electrician
- Requires support to re-engage with education and develop positive learning habits
- Benefits from clear structure, consistent routines and strong adult relationships
Key Needs
The student may present with:
- Difficulties with attendance, punctuality and engagement
- Emotional dysregulation and impulsive decision-making
- Non-compliance when challenged or corrected
- Reduced confidence due to gaps in learning
- Challenges during transitions and unstructured periods
- Vulnerability to negative peer influence
- Emerging emotional wellbeing needs
The Ideal Tutor Will Have:
- Experience teaching GCSE English, Maths and/or Science
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- Experience supporting students with SEMH, disengagement or Alternative Provision backgrounds
- Ability to create engaging, structured and purposeful sessions
- Patience, resilience and a nurturing approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
