Community Projects Officer
Maldon & District Community Voluntary Service (MDCVS)
Location: Maldon, Essex (CM9)
Salary: £28,282 pro rata (£9,173–£11,466 actual)
Hours: 12–15 hours per week
About the Role
We’re looking for a Community Projects Officer to support the delivery of local projects that help create connected, healthy, and resilient communities across the Maldon District.
Working as part of a small, supportive team, you’ll help organise activities, engage residents, and connect people to services that improve wellbeing, reduce isolation, and respond to community needs.
This is a varied, hands-on role involving community engagement, administration, partnership working, and direct support to individuals and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and deliver community projects focused on wellbeing, inclusion, and reducing social isolation
- Organise and promote activities, events, and engagement opportunities
- Work with residents, volunteers, and partner organisations to develop and deliver services
- Provide support, signposting, and referrals, including responding to crisis or emergency needs
- Recruit and support volunteers involved in project delivery
- Maintain accurate records and monitoring data for reporting and evaluation
- Ensure all work is inclusive, accessible, and compliant with policies (e.g. safeguarding, data protection)
- Contribute ideas to improve and develop services
About You (Essential Requirements)
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has strong interpersonal skills and can build positive relationships with a wide range of people
- Has experience supporting individuals, including those facing challenging circumstances
- Communicates effectively in person, by phone, and in writing
- Is organised and confident using IT systems (e.g. Microsoft Office, databases)
- Can work independently as well as part of a team
- Has experience working with or supporting volunteers
- Understands confidentiality and data protection requirements
- Can manage records and contribute to reporting processes
- Demonstrates a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice
- Holds a full UK driving licence and is able to drive a small van
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Understanding of community development or asset-based approaches
- Awareness of key public health issues (e.g. mental wellbeing, social isolation)
- Knowledge of the Maldon District and local communities
- Flexibility to attend occasional evenings/weekends or provide cover when needed
Additional Information
- This role may involve travel across the district
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
- The role may be subject to a DBS check
