About the Role.
This newly created role sits within the Financial Reporting Team and will play a key part in helping the business achieve its objectives through providing financial reporting support to the business wherever it is needed, so we can deliver great outcomes at pace.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a technical mindset who is flexible, adaptable, and happy to roll up their sleeves. Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance Projects, you'll gain broad exposure to a wide variety of projects, requiring expertise across technical accounting, statutory reporting, taxation, finance transformation and data automation, treasury, securitisation and capital markets, and M&A activity.
You'll collaborate with teams across the business, including senior management, so we're looking for a confident individual who can communicate effectively at all levels. With multiple projects running at any one time, you'll need to be well-organised, proactive, and adaptable.
The right person will have a strong grounding in accounting — ideally with an audit background — and experience in financial services or fintech. We see this as a growth role — you'll receive full training and ongoing support as you develop within the team.
Day-to-day responsibilities.
Contribute to project initiatives within the finance transformation roadmap and, at times, lead your own projects from planning through to implementation as required.
Assist the internal and external reporting teams with the preparation of management accounts and financial statements, typically on an ad hoc basis and in relation to complex accounting matters or new transactions.
Supporting corporate finance activities and strategic projects, including due diligence and transaction-related work streams as they arise.
Assist the Internal Reporting Team on general ledger system enhancement initiatives.
Enhance controls and processes to build a strong control framework that can withstand rigorous audit review as we build towards IPO-readiness.
Work with the Finance Data team to improve automation and build scalable processes.
Support tax structuring and planning – liaise with external advisors and present complex tax issues to non-finance colleagues to help structure the group and its affairs in a tax-efficient manner. Collaborate with the External Reporting Team to ensure tax submissions are accurate and made within the required timeframes.
Prepare and review technical accounting papers and supporting working files as required.
Assist with horizon scanning of accounting and regulatory standards – this will involve providing training, documenting interpretation guidance, and assisting with the implementation.
What we’re looking for...
A newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), ideally with audit experience and a background in financial services or fintech.
Someone who can build strong relationships across the business to ensure the Finance team’s goals are met.
A strong communicator who can translate complex topics in a simplified way and lead conversations with senior stakeholders.
A commitment to producing high-quality, well-presented work.
Comfortable with a hands-on, collaborative approach and hybrid working (office days: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday).
A driven individual who is keen to grow with the team and the company.
A team player with a friendly, positive mindset.
The ability to read and interpret accounting standards, regulatory guidelines, and legislation.
Bonus skills
Technical accounting knowledge and practical experience in some of the following areas: business combinations, ECL modelling, EIR revenue recognition, IFRS 2 share-based payments, or hedge accounting.
