Sherwood Roofing Contractors is an established roofing contractor delivering reactive maintenance, planned maintenance, refurbishment and major roofing projects across the South East. We work with local authorities, healthcare providers, schools, commercial and industrial clients, delivering high-quality roofing solutions backed by exceptional customer service.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Roofing Contracts Manager to oversee our reactive maintenance division.
This is a varied role that combines office-based contract management with regular site visits, ensuring our reactive roofing works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the high standards our clients have come to expect.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing the company's reactive roofing division, overseeing a high volume of day-to-day maintenance works for our public sector clients.
Working closely with our Reactive Works Contract Co-ordinator and Surveyor, you will manage reactive jobs from instruction through to completion, ensuring operatives, materials, scaffolding and subcontractors are organised efficiently whilst maintaining excellent communication with clients and residents throughout.
The role is split between our office in Heathfield and visiting sites across the South East, with the majority of works located throughout Sussex and the Brighton area.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing reactive roofing works from instruction through to completion.
- Acting as the main point of contact for roofing operatives throughout the duration of each project.
- Providing technical advice and resolving roofing-related issues that arise on site.
- Organising labour, materials and plant.
- Arranging scaffolding erections and dismantles with our in-house scaffolding division and external contractors where required.
- Liaising with residents, housing officers, contract administrators and clients.
- Working closely with our Reactive Works Contract Co-ordinator and Surveyor to ensure works are delivered efficiently.
- Managing specialist subcontractors where required.
- Carrying out regular site visits to monitor progress, quality and health and safety.
- Maintaining accurate job records and corresponding professionally by email.
- Ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
About You
The successful applicant will have:
- Previous hands-on roofing experience is essential.
- Previous experience managing roofing works or supervising roofing operatives.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to manage a high-volume reactive workload.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Confidence corresponding professionally by email.
- A personable, approachable and professional manner whilst remaining confident and firm when required.
- The ability to manage your own workload and make decisions under pressure.
- A full UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points.
Experience working within the public sector or reactive maintenance would be advantageous but is not essential.
