Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Digger Driver to operate heavy machinery on construction and excavation sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for manoeuvring excavators and other related equipment to assist in various earth-moving tasks. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, safe driving practices, and the ability to work efficiently within a team. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in commercial driving and machinery operation to contribute to ongoing projects while ensuring safety and precision.
Responsibilities
- Operate excavators and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently in accordance with site protocols
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify maintenance needs or potential faults
- Assist with site preparation, excavation, loading, and material movement tasks
- Follow detailed instructions from site supervisors to complete assigned tasks accurately
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment around machinery and work areas
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations at all times, including wearing appropriate PPE
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly to management
Skills
- Proven experience operating excavators or similar heavy machinery (essential)
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance checks (desirable)
- Valid commercial driving licence with relevant endorsements for operating heavy vehicles (essential)
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures within construction environments (essential)
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety and quality standards
- Good organisational skills with the ability to follow instructions precisely
- Physical fitness to handle manual tasks associated with machinery operation and site work
Pay: £12.71-£15.45 per hour
