Duties
- Measure and prepare spaces accurately for carpet and flooring installation using schematics and technical drawings
- Remove old flooring materials carefully, ensuring minimal disruption to the space
- Cut, fit, and secure carpets using hand tools such as knives, trowels, and power tools for precise results
- Use carpentry skills to create seamless edges, thresholds, and transitions between different flooring types
- Apply construction painting techniques when needed to ensure clean finishes around edges or baseboards
- Follow schematics and technical instructions to ensure installations meet safety standards and client specifications
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools, disposing of waste properly, and adhering to safety protocols
Skills
- Proven construction experience with a focus on flooring or related trades
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and carpentry techniques for cutting, fitting, and securing flooring materials
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings accurately for precise installations
- Knowledge of construction painting techniques for finishing touches around installed floors
- Familiarity with various types of flooring materials and installation methods
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills during on-site adjustments
