Experienced Residential Property Solicitor / Conveyancer – In-House Opportunity
Are you an experienced Residential Property Solicitor or Conveyancer looking for an opportunity outside of the traditional private practice environment?
A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced residential property professional to join a successful and highly regarded independent property business in a dedicated in-house legal capacity.
This is a genuinely different opportunity for someone who wants to combine their residential conveyancing expertise with a more commercial, fast-paced property environment. You will work closely with an experienced sales team, providing legal support and helping transactions progress efficiently from instruction through to completion.
The role offers genuine flexibility and can be structured either as a salaried position paying £45,000 - £60,000, depending on experience, or on a self-employed basis with a negotiated retainer and high commission potential. Both structures offer realistic earning potential of £60,000+.
The Role
As a Residential Property Solicitor / Conveyancer, you will provide in-house legal support across residential property transactions, working closely with the sales team and clients to ensure transactions progress as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
You'll manage your own caseload while working collaboratively with estate agents, clients, lenders, solicitors and other third parties.
The role combines residential conveyancing expertise with commercial awareness, strong client management and a proactive approach to progressing transactions.
This would suit an experienced conveyancer who enjoys having greater involvement in the wider property transaction and wants to move into a more commercially focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage residential conveyancing matters from instruction through to completion.
- Provide legal advice and support across residential property sales.
- Manage your own caseload effectively and ensure transactions progress within appropriate timescales.
- Review, draft and advise on contracts, transfers, leases and associated property documentation.
- Liaise closely with estate agents, buyers, sellers, lenders, solicitors and other third parties.
- Identify potential legal issues and risks at an early stage.
- Provide practical and commercially focused solutions to keep transactions moving.
- Work closely with the sales team to minimise delays and provide a seamless service to clients.
- Maintain regular communication with clients throughout the transaction.
- Ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive transaction records.
- Contribute to improving processes and the overall customer journey.
- Support the wider business with residential property-related legal advice where required.
About You
We're looking for an experienced residential property professional with a strong background in conveyancing.
You may currently be working as a Residential Property Solicitor, Conveyancing Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer, Legal Executive or experienced Residential Conveyancer and be looking for a more commercial alternative to traditional private practice.
You'll ideally have:
- At least one year's post-qualification experience if you are a Solicitor or other qualified legal professional.
- Strong experience handling residential conveyancing transactions.
- Experience managing your own caseload from instruction through to completion.
- Excellent knowledge of residential property law and conveyancing procedures.
- Strong client care and relationship management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- A proactive and commercially minded approach.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of transactions.
- Confidence working in a busy, target-driven property environment.
- The ability to build strong relationships with estate agents, clients and third parties.
- A genuine interest in working in-house and becoming part of a wider property business.
What's on Offer
- £45,000 - £60,000 salary, depending on experience.
- £60,000+ OTE.
- Alternatively, a self-employed retainer plus high commission structure.
- Genuine flexibility around the structure of the role.
- A rare opportunity to work in-house within a successful residential property business.
- A commercially focused environment away from traditional private practice.
- Direct involvement with a busy residential sales operation.
- Greater exposure to the wider property transaction and business.
- A varied role with genuine autonomy and responsibility.
- Opportunity to build a long-term career within an established and successful property business.
Why Apply?
This is a particularly interesting opportunity for a Residential Property Solicitor or Conveyancer who wants to do something different.
Rather than working within a traditional law firm, you'll be embedded within a successful property business, working directly alongside the sales operation and playing an important role in keeping transactions moving.
You'll have the opportunity to use your legal expertise in a more commercial environment, develop strong relationships across the business and have a genuine influence on the customer and transaction journey.
The flexibility of either a salaried or self-employed structure, combined with £60,000+ earning potential, makes this an unusual opportunity within the residential property market.
