S&A Group is the UK’s largest independent strawberry grower. The Group, which also has berry-growing operations overseas, uses modern and innovative growing techniques to drive and support its thriving year-round soft fruit import business.
At our main packaging facility in Marden, Herefordshire we store, pack, and distribute around C30 million units of UK and imported production each year; we operate up to 8 packaging lines, which are installed with checkweighers, heat sealers and thermal printers.
Our produce is picked, graded, packaged, and delivered to our customers within 24 hours to ensure our fruits are fresh, tasty, and as natural as possible.
We now have a new opportunity for a full-time, permanent vacancy in our Marden Packhouse:
FLT Driver
As a Packhouse FLT driver you will be responsible for the safe loading & unloading of vehicles and following procedures for the correct storage of raw stocks & packaging to ensure the efficient operation of the Packhouse.
The main duties and responsibilities include:
- To carry out tasks in an efficient, safe & timely manner including the loading of dispatch vehicles & unloading of intake stock arrivals.
- Document control is maintained at all times. Including scanning, FLT daily checks, delivery notes.
- Packaging & raw produce stocks are stored in organized manner.
- To be able to raise any issues with the line leader.
- To positively work with colleagues to achieve the production plan within the quality parameters.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Valid FLT licence and experience.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision.
- Good spatial awareness.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Ability to operate and control equipment.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- A good understanding of health & Safety, hygiene and other policy expectations.
- Flexible and able to work under pressure.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
Working pattern: 5 days out of 7 on rota basis
Hours: min40 hours per week
Pay rate: depending on experience
Overtime: Paid at 1.25x for any hours worked over 48 per week.
