About Us:
At the Abbotsford Hotel, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional hospitality and creating memorable experiences for every guest who walks through our doors. Whether your visit is for a meal with loved ones, a quick drink while on the go or an overnight stay, we strive to exceed the expectations of our guests.
Our copper bar is at the heart of the hotel, offering a welcoming space for guests to enjoy great drinks, excellent service, and a relaxed atmosphere. Our function suite also plays an important part in what we offer, with our bar service helping to bring private functions, parties, weddings, and special celebrations to life.
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Bar Supervisor to support the day-to-day operation of our bars, leading our front of house team and ensuring consistently high standards of service. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about hospitality, enjoys developing and motivating a team, and thrives in a busy, fast-paced environment.
We’re looking for someone who leads by example, takes pride in delivering outstanding service, is confident overseeing a shift, supporting the team, and maintaining high standards across bar operations. You’ll play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring smooth service, and helping to deliver exceptional experiences for both everyday guests and those celebrating special occasions.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead, support and motivate the bar and front of house team
- Oversee daily operations of bar functions
- Ensure consistently high standards of service, presentation and guest experience
- Create staff rotas and manage labour efficiently to meet business and event demands
- Train new team members and develop the skills and product knowledge of existing staff
- Lead by example during busy services, maintaining a positive and welcoming atmosphere
- Manage beverage stock levels, place orders and oversee inventory control to minimise waste
- Manage beverage quality, cellar operations and bar standards
- Encourage and train the team on upselling, cocktails, drinks knowledge and excellent customer service
- Support the planning and smooth delivery of weddings, parties, private functions and other events
- Work closely with the wider hotel team to ensure seamless service across the hotel and function spaces
- Ensure the bar is fully prepared, well-presented and appropriately staffed for each service and event
- Maintain compliance with licensing, health and safety and company policies
- Help identify opportunities to improve the bar operation, service standards and overall guest experience
Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a hotel or hospitality environment
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a managerial or supervisory role
- A strong understanding of bar operations
- Personal Licence holder
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
What matters to us:
We hire for attitude as much as experience. You’ll fit in well if you:
- Treat others with respect and kindness, whether it’s guests or teammates
- Take accountability for your role and the experience you help create
- Enjoy being part of a team and bring strong team spirit
- Take pride in delivering great service and the small details that make a difference
- Stay calm and positive in a busy environment
