Aspira Education are recruiting an Assistant Head Teacher to join a specialist provision supporting pupils with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, and complex educational backgrounds.
This is a full-time leadership role, Monday–Friday.
Hours:
8am - 4pm Monday - Friday.

About the Role
As Assistant Head Teacher, you will:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across the specialist setting
- Support the Head of School with behaviour culture, safeguarding standards, and staff performance
- Lead on key areas such as behaviour strategy, attendance, pastoral systems, or curriculum implementation
- Support and develop teaching and pastoral teams to deliver consistent, high-quality practice
- Maintain strong relationships with Local Authority teams, external professionals, and families
- Ensure high expectations are balanced with trauma-informed and relational approaches
- Help maintain compliance with safeguarding, Ofsted, and statutory requirements
- Contribute to a calm, structured environment where pupils and staff can succeed
Teaching responsibility will be light (approx. 4–5 sessions per week), allowing focus on leadership, systems, and staff development.
This is not a mainstream leadership post.
It requires resilience, emotional intelligence, strong decision-making, and visible leadership presence.

- Are looking for a leadership role with reduced teaching commitment
This role is ideal for experienced Assistant Heads or Deputy Heads seeking a meaningful leadership position within a specialist setting.
All Applicants Must Have
QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
Senior leadership experience within a school or specialist provision
Experience working with SEMH, behaviour-focused, or complex needs pupils
The right to work in the UK
A clear fully Enhanced DBS
Two recent professional references
Willingness to complete safeguarding training via Aspira Education
