Part‑Time Shop Assistant (Ages 16–20) – Hinckley Motor Spares

Hinckley Motor Spares is a busy, fast‑paced motor parts shop. Phones ringing, customers arriving, deliveries coming in, stock to organise — there is always plenty to do. We are looking for a motivated young person (aged 16–20) who wants to learn, gain real work experience, and grow within the business.
This role is ideal for someone in school or college, as we can work around your timetable. Extra hours are available during staff shortages, and there is genuine opportunity to progress into a full‑time role in the future.
Pay Rates
- Ages 16–18: £9.00 per hour
- Ages 19–20: £11.50 per hour
What We’re Looking For
- Confident, positive attitude
- Able to use your own initiative
- Organised and able to follow instructions
- Good level of physical fitness (manual lifting involved)
- Basic IT skills — training provided, but you must be comfortable using a computer
- Polite, respectful communication with customers
- Willingness to learn about car parts and how to identify them using our PC catalogues
Primary Responsibilities
- Receive, check, and put away stock from suppliers (heavy lifting required)
- Keep walkways clear and dispose of cardboard/waste
- Pick and prepare orders for delivery
- Pack online orders ready for courier collection
- Assist with stock taking and updating stock levels on the PC
- Help with returns and warranty items
- Learn how to create part numbers and pricing (full training provided)
Secondary Responsibilities
- Serve customers at the front counter, on the phone, and via WhatsApp Web
- Use our MAM Autocat system to find correct parts (training provided)
- Support managers with general tasks around the shop

Requirements
- GCSEs (completed or currently studying) – preferred
- Driving licence – preferred but not essential
- Must be able to work in person at our Hinckley shop
Pay: £4,680.00-£14,950.00 per year
