Hours: Averaging 42 hours per week - 12-hour shifts - 3 on 3 off days and nights

As we move into this exciting new era, we are looking for a reliable and detail-focused Bakery Operator to join our team.
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and detail‑focused Bakery Operators to join our production team to become a skilled operator, with excellent career opportunities. You will ensure that all products are produced, sliced, packed, labelled, and coded to the highest quality and food safety standards. You will play a key part in maintaining the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of both the production plant and slicing hall. This is a fast‑paced environment where accuracy, ownership, and attention to detail are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Production, Plant & Slicing Operations
- Set up, operate, monitor, and adjust plant and slicing equipment to ensure efficient production flow.
- Safely change slicing frames and carry out line changeovers in line with procedures.
- Ensure production lines run efficiently to meet output targets and the daily production plan.
- Carry out quality checks pre‑ and post‑slicing to ensure product consistency and compliance with company standards.
- Monitor slice thickness, product appearance, and finished specifications to meet requirements.
- Ensure correct packaging, labelling, tagging, and date coding are applied to all products.
- Conduct CCP checks, including metal detection, in line with strict food safety procedures.
- Accurately record production, quality, and safety checks using handheld devices or systems.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete all required production and quality documentation accurately and on time.
- Ensure all activities align with company procedures, hygiene policies, health & safety standards, food safety standards, and statutory regulations.
Communication & Teamwork
- Work closely with Dispatch, Food Safety, and the Team Leader/Shift Manager to ensure smooth production flow.
- Support, guide, and coordinate with other operators across both plant and slicing areas.
- Assist with training colleagues on slicing procedures when required.
Hygiene, Cleaning & Maintenance
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping using the clean‑as‑you‑go approach.
- Carry out basic cleaning, fault checks, and first‑line maintenance tasks on equipment (following training).
- Ensure all production materials and equipment are available, clean, and safe for use.

- Able to follow procedures and work to tight deadlines.
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety practices.
- Willingness to learn, develop and meet the business training goals.
- Experience in food production or bakery operations is beneficial but not essential.
