Realistic OTE: £40,000–£60,000 per year
At Smiths Renault and Dacia, we’re looking for a Car Sales Executive to join our friendly team in Peterborough.
You don’t need previous car sales experience to apply. We’re interested in people who have sales experience in a customer-focused environment, where building trust, understanding customer needs, and providing a high level of service are central to the role.

Your role
You’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative sales team, guiding customers through their vehicle journey from initial enquiry through to handover.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Following our sales process to support customers purchasing new and used vehicles
- Responding to customer enquiries across a range of channels, including telephone, email, live chat, video calls, and face-to-face conversations
- Listening carefully to customers, understanding their needs, and recommending suitable vehicles, products, and services
- Building positive relationships with customers and delivering an excellent experience throughout their journey
- Developing your knowledge of Renault vehicles, products, and accessories so you can provide informed recommendations
- Managing customer information accurately using our CRM system
- Completing sales and financial paperwork accurately and in line with company procedures
- Supporting vehicle appraisals and part-exchange assessments with guidance from our management team
- Working closely with colleagues across the business to achieve shared goals
We’ll give you full training and ongoing support to help you build the automotive knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed.
Your training will include Renault and Dacia product knowledge, our sales process, finance and compliance basics, customer systems, vehicle handovers, and how to guide customers confidently from their first enquiry through to collection.
Salary and Benefits
The role has a basic salary of £25,000 per year, with realistic on-target earnings of £40,000 to £60,000 through commission and bonus. If you haven’t worked in automotive sales before, we’ll make sure the pay structure is explained clearly during the recruitment process, including how commission is earned, what support you’ll receive as you settle in, and what earnings typically look like once you’re established in the role.

Working pattern
This is a 5-day working week on a rota basis.
The hours of the department are:
- Monday to Friday 08:30 to 6pm
- Saturday 8:30am to 5pm
- Sundays, working 10am to 4pm
Your normal week, will include Saturday working, but you will receive a day off in the week.
When you work a Sunday (1 in two) , you’ll receive an additional day off during the week.
We’ll explain the rota clearly during the recruitment process so you know what to expect.
Who we’re looking for

This role would suit someone who has experience selling products or services in a customer-focused environment. You’ll be used to speaking with customers, understanding what they need, explaining options clearly, and helping them make confident decisions.
You don’t need to know about Renault or Dacia vehicles before you join us. We’ll help you build that knowledge. We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in providing a high level of service, and is willing to learn.
You’ll need to be comfortable using computers and keeping customer information accurate, as the role involves working with our customer systems, finance documents, and sales records. You’ll also need to be organised, reliable, and able to work well as part of a team.
A full UK driving licence is required.
