Volunteer Social Media Manager – County Durham Alerts
Location: County Durham (Remote / Work From Home)

Hours: Flexible – approx. 2–4 hours per week
About the Role
County Durham Alerts is a trusted local community Facebook page, keeping residents across the area updated with news, safety alerts, traffic reports, and community information. We are looking for a reliable volunteer to help manage and run our page, helping to keep our community informed and connected.
This is a fantastic flexible role, perfect if you want to gain experience, support your local area, and work around your own schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Post local news, updates and alerts using our clear templates and pre-made graphics
- Check and respond to messages and reports from members of the public
- Match posts to the correct category using our simple graphic system
- Share police appeals, road closures, weather warnings and community stories
- Ensure all information posted is accurate, clear and friendly
- Flag urgent or emergency matters to the lead manager
- Help maintain a consistent, helpful presence on the page
What We Are Looking For
- Residing in or good knowledge of County Durham and local areas
- Confident using Facebook – posting, messaging and basic page functions
- Able to write clearly and simply for a local audience
- Reliable, trustworthy and fair
- Good attention to detail
- Keen to support your local community
- No previous experience required – full training and guidance provided!
