The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly competent Garment Technologist/Made-to-Measure Pattern Cutter, to join our small, committed team. Liaising between the Founder and CEO, and our London based tailoring factory, other manufacturers, fabric suppliers and our hat makers, you will play a key part in helping to create the ranges and ensuring that samples, production and special orders are delivered perfectly made and on time – upholding our commitment to excellence and customer service.
Main Duties
Liaising with garment factory regarding samples, production and special orders: creating spec sheets, visiting the tailoring factory in North London on a regular basis, checking on fabric stock of required fabrics and inspecting the quality of garments that have been completed.
Communicating any issues with the factory when necessary.
Chasing delivery for urgent items.
Finding alternative manufactures for items that are not the speciality of our tailoring factory.
Liaising with our milliners regarding special orders and samples.
Ordering fabrics, linings and trimmings (braids and buttons) according to the requests of the founder/designer.
Checking samples and production to see if requests have been complied with and that everything is of superb quality.
Checking invoices from manufacturers and suppliers.
Checking that we have correct fabric ratings for every style.
Creating patterns for made to measure garments from a standard size pattern (these are usually for larger ladies who will not fit a standard size garment).
Liaising with external pattern cutter regarding new styles and toile amendments.
Fitting garments on customers in conjunction with the seamstress.
Liaising with milliners regarding special orders for hats, ensuring that the hats are made in the right colours and with the correct trimmings.
Keeping fabric stock details up to date.
Skills and Experience Required
- 5+ years’ experience working in a luxury or premium fashion environment
- Demonstrated experience of liaising with factories and ability to communicate regarding garment construction.
- Able to cut made-to-measure patterns for customers who are size 22+
- Excellent communication skills and able to convey detailed instructions to a wide variety of suppliers.
- Ability to fit garments on customers so that our seamstress has all the necessary information to make the alterations.
