Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometrist to join our independent practice. In this role, you will provide comprehensive eye care services, including vision assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans. Your expertise will help improve patients’ quality of life by ensuring optimal eye health and vision correction. The ideal candidate is passionate about patient care, possesses strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, and is committed to serving a diverse population. MECS acreditation and availability to work Saturday mornings is essential. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a small, friendly and collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess visual acuity, eye health, and overall ocular function.
- Prescribe corrective lenses, contact lenses, and other vision aids tailored to individual patient needs.
- Diagnose and manage common eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
- Carry out MECS assesments.
- Provide specialised care for senior patients and those with complex ocular health issues.
- Educate patients on eye health maintenance, preventive measures, and treatment options.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate patient records, document findings, and follow up on treatment progress in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Requirements
- Valid registration to practice as an Optometrist in the UK.
- Proven experience in patient care with a focus on comprehensive eye examinations.
- MECS accreditation.
- Excellent communication skills to clearly explain diagnoses and treatment plans to patients.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy clinic while maintaining attention to detail.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in optometry practices.
- Available to work Saturday mornings.
