About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and proactive Assistant Construction Manager to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional looking to develop their management skills within a fast-paced and varied environment.
The role is split between office-based and site-based activities, supporting the management team in the day-to-day operations of our Building Department. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the management team with the daily operations of the Building Department.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Procure materials, plant, and subcontractor services as required.
- Carry out regular site inspections to ensure quality standards and specifications are being maintained.
- Monitor site progress and provide updates to the management team.
- Deliver and record toolbox talks to site operatives.
- Assist engineers and tradespeople with technical and operational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and site teams.
- Assist in resolving site issues and maintaining project programmes.
- Support the preparation of reports, quotations, and project documentation.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience within the construction industry.
- Good understanding of construction processes, materials, and health & safety requirements.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in a supervisory, site management, or project coordination role.
- Knowledge of procurement and scheduling processes.
- Experience delivering toolbox talks and conducting site inspections.
