Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Optical Assistant to join our professional team. This role involves supporting optometrists in delivering high-quality eye care services. The successful candidate will assist with patient interactions, optical measurements, and equipment handling, contributing to a welcoming and efficient practice environment. Prior laboratory experience and knowledge of human anatomy are advantageous, but full training will be provided. Responsibilities
- Assisting optometrists with patient examinations and measurements, including fitting lenses and frames
- Preparing and maintaining optical equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper calibration
- Supporting the dispensing of spectacles and contact lenses, including adjustments and fittings
- Managing patient records accurately and efficiently
- Providing excellent customer service by answering queries and guiding patients through their options
- Assisting in laboratory tasks such as lens cutting, edging, and assembly when required
- Maintaining a tidy and organised work environment in compliance with health and safety standards
Experience
- Laboratory experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for all technical tasks
- Knowledge of human anatomy related to the eye is beneficial for understanding patient needs
- Previous experience working in a healthcare or customer service setting is advantageous
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour to ensure positive patient interactions
