Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teacher to join our SEN school located in Blandford Forum. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering specialised instruction and support to children with diverse learning needs, fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement tailored lesson plans that cater to individual learning requirements, including speech therapy, maths, and physical education.
- Support children with special educational needs through personalised tutoring and behaviour management strategies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists and behaviour analysts, to create effective support plans.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting teaching methods as necessary to optimise learning outcomes.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages participation, confidence, and social interaction among pupils.
- Maintain accurate records of student development and communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding progress and concerns.
- Assist in organising activities that promote physical development, emotional well-being, and social skills.
- Proofread educational materials to ensure clarity and appropriateness for diverse learners.
- Mentor and support other staff members in delivering specialised educational programmes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children in early childhood or preschool settings, including toddler care or preschool experience.
- Qualifications in early childhood education or special education recognised by relevant authorities.
- Knowledge of applied behaviour analysis (ABA), behaviour management techniques, and special educational needs strategies.
- Skills in speech therapy, tutoring, mentoring, and teaching physical education are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with children, parents, colleagues, and external specialists.
- Demonstrated ability to develop engaging lesson plans tailored to individual learning styles and needs.
- Organised with strong proofreading skills to ensure educational materials meet high standards of clarity and appropriateness.
