Shop Manager needed for our newest venture 'Haus of Condiments' on Rochester High Street - the home of condiment worship.
We’re Condimaniac - a small business that manufactures over 30 types of condiments here in Medway. Other than produce everything we sell, we also run our own social media as well as our website and soon to be 'Haus of Condiments', a place for condiment lovers.
Our full time working hours are 35-hours per week and for this role the proposed days are Wednesday to Sunday daytime (exact hours to be decided) as well as Spring and Summer bank holidays (we will close Xmas and New Year's).
What you’ll be doing:
- Opening and closing the shop, including keyholder responsibilities.
- Delivering excellent customer service and creating a welcoming, knowledgeable shop experience.
- Learning our product range and confidently advising customers on sauces, seasonings, pickles, gifts and subscriptions.
- Managing day-to-day shop presentation, merchandising, displays and stock replenishment.
- Processing sales through Shopify POS, handling card payments, refunds and customer enquiries.
- Keeping the shop clean, organised and well-stocked throughout the day.
- Supporting food/drink service areas where applicable, including grab-and-go items, tastings, pickle bar or sampling activity.
- Completing daily checks such as cleaning records, temperature checks, stock checks and opening/closing tasks.
- Receiving deliveries, rotating stock, checking dates and maintaining good stockroom organisation.
- Supervising shop assistants and casual staff during shifts.
- Helping with rota planning, holiday cover and day-to-day communication with the wider Condimaniac team.
- Supporting launches, events, soft-opening activity, Club Maniac/member events and busy seasonal trading periods.
Due to the nature of our company we are looking for someone not afraid to get stuck in. We need someone who is:
- Interested in food, especially sauces, seasonings and pickles
- Able to get to the shop reliably
- Previous experience in retail is a must, experience in food is a plus but not essential, training will be provided
- Ok with working on your feet; the shop is housed in a grade I listed Tudor building, so there are steps here and there and tasks can be hands on. Some lifting of heavier items is required.
In return we offer a fun work environment, lots of complimentary sauce, and the possibility for the role to progress over time - this is one of the first and only condiment-specific shops in the UK and we have a lot of ideas, so it is a great time to join the business if you're excited about sauce!
Interviewing to start immediately.
HOW TO APPLY:
We only care about one thing for your initial application! Reply to this job posting in the 'Cover Letter' section with the answer to the following questions:
1. What’s your favourite condiment(s) and why?
2. What food opinion would you defend in court?
3. Why are you the perfect person to run Haus of Condiments?
We won’t be able to reply to applications that don’t do this one step.
Can’t wait to meet you.
Thanks
