Teaching Assistant Opportunities | Cardiff Schools
Full-Time | September Starts | £465 - £500 Per Week
This September, Educators First is working with a 3 schools across Cardiff looking to appoint Teaching Assistants to support pupils who need an extra level of encouragement, guidance and consistency throughout the school day.
These opportunities are ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, sports coaches, youth workers and anyone looking to gain meaningful experience working with young people.
The schools we're supporting aren't necessarily looking for years of classroom experience. They're looking for people who can build trust, remain positive when challenges arise and become a reliable presence in a young person's life.
The Role
No two days in school are ever the same.
One day you may be supporting a pupil who lacks confidence and needs encouragement to contribute in lessons.
The next, you could be helping a small group stay focused, engaged and motivated during classroom activities.
You'll work closely with experienced teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning, develop confidence and overcome barriers that may be affecting their progress.
Responsibilities may include:
- Providing one-to-one support for individual pupils
- Supporting small groups during lessons and interventions
- Encouraging participation, confidence and independence
- Helping pupils regulate emotions and manage challenges
- Promoting positive behaviour and engagement
- Working alongside teachers, ALN departments and pastoral teams
- Creating a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment
Who Will You Be Supporting?
Depending on the school, you may work with pupils who have:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs
- Learning difficulties
- Additional behavioural or developmental needs
Full support will be provided by experienced school staff throughout your placement.
Who Typically Excels In These Roles?
Some of our strongest Teaching Assistants have come from backgrounds including:

What schools consistently tell us is that attitude matters far more than experience.

- Communicate confidently
- Want to make a positive difference
Why Work Through Educators First?
We're not interested in simply filling vacancies.
We take the time to understand your background, strengths and long-term goals before introducing you to schools.
Many of the graduates we place go on to secure teacher training opportunities, permanent school positions and careers within education, psychology and youth support services.
Where possible, we'll arrange trial days so you can experience a school before making any commitment.
Our focus has always been simple: finding the right fit for both the candidate and the school.
