Post: Student Support Mentor
Responsible to: Head of Year
Main responsibilities of the post:

To support the academic achievement and social development of students within the key stage
- To be a highly visible presence around the academy and to manage student behaviour in a positive, persistent and relentless manner and to be an outstanding role model to young people
- To set and maintain high standards of attendance, punctuality, uniform, behaviour and manners amongst all students
- Be on duty at the start of the school day, break, lunch and after school
- To support high attendance by making daily absence calls and being effective in getting absent students into school at the earliest possible opportunity
- Visit classrooms every lesson, every day to support students and staff
- To make ‘second warning’ phone calls to parents for students to avoid students being referred to reflection
- To support in detentions after school in ensuring high standards and contact parents
- To be an authority figure and to correct standards and give detentions
- To know every student by name and to know important information which is used to support students
- To assist with investigating incidents effectively
- To maintain excellent communication with parents and to work as part of a pastoral team to support students
- Support identified groups and individuals and enable them to be successful in the classroom
- Work with external agencies and partners to support students
- To fulfil all safeguarding functions and responsibilities and to read and report on CPOMS every day
- To carry out any additional duties as directed by the Head of Year or Vice Principal
- Provide First Aid, after training
- Support Academy events such as parents' evenings and interviews as required
