The Department of Sport Science is based within the School of Science and Technology on NTU's Clifton Campus. The Department is also home to the Sport and Wellbeing Academy (SAWA), which provides undergraduate and postgraduate students with valuable real-world experience through clinical exercise referral services, performance support for NTU Sport and BUCS athletes, and community engagement initiatives, including coaching and Daily Mile programmes in local schools.
The Department benefits from strong interdisciplinary collaborations across the School, with opportunities to work alongside colleagues in Biosciences, including the John Van Geest Cancer Research Centre, as well as Chemistry and Forensic Science, Computing and Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics.
Nottingham Trent University has a long-established reputation for delivering high-quality sport-related courses. Today, the Department comprises 77 academic staff, including postdoctoral researchers, academic associates, and SAWA practitioners, alongside approximately 45 PhD researchers and large cohorts of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Significant recent investment has further enhanced the Department's facilities, research environment, and student experience. Our state-of-the-art resources include four physiology laboratories, a Clinical Exercise Physiology Laboratory, a British Olympic Association-approved environmental chamber, a performance analysis suite, and two biomechanics and neuromuscular performance laboratories.
Together, these facilities support a vibrant, collaborative, and research-intensive environment committed to excellence in teaching, research, and professional practice. We invite you to join our thriving academic community.
