Picture a role where you’re not just dialling numbers, you’re genuinely helping customers fix problems and getting rewarded for the wins you bring in.
That’s what this job is.
Polycote has been making and supplying specialist epoxy and polyurethane floor repairs, screeds, coatings and other building products since 1991. We’re a small, close-knit team based in Kempston, Bedford, and we’re looking for an Internal Sales Executive who enjoys speaking to customers, likes working to targets, and wants to build a long-term career in sales.
You’ll be the first point of contact for a lot of our customers. Some will already know us well. Others will be new and looking for guidance. Your job is to understand what they need, recommend the right product, and close the sale while giving a really solid level of service and technical support over the phone.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll spend your day handling a mix of inbound and outbound calls, building relationships, and keeping your pipeline moving. You’ll:
- Hit and exceed call and sales targets
- Answer inbound calls quickly and professionally (within 3 rings)
- Make outbound calls to existing and potential customers
- Keep strong relationships with current customers
- Grow new accounts steadily over time
- Talk through technical questions and recommend solutions from our range
- Quote prices and follow up when needed
- Ask the right questions, understand requirements, and close sales
- Process orders accurately and keep records up to date in our system
- Be the go-to person for customer issues
- Join daily sales huddles and monthly meetings
- Help out with other tasks as needed in a small team
What we’re looking for
We want someone who is naturally driven and likes the challenge of sales. You’ll need to be confident on the phone, organised, and able to stay positive even when you hear “no.”
You’ll have:
- A self-motivated, target-focused attitude
- Strong negotiation and closing skills
- Good arithmetic and attention to detail
- Clear, professional English and good people skills
- A real interest in sales / chasing targets
- Telesales or similar sales experience
- A record of meeting or beating sales targets
- Basic IT confidence (ERP systems and digital phones)
- The ability to learn technical products and explain them simply
- Thick skin and a calm approach under pressure
If you’ve worked with construction products or in the building/flooring world, brilliant, but it’s not essential.

- Based in the office: Kempston, Bedford

- Salary: £35,000 - £52,000 per year + bonus & commission

- Free on-site parking, fully stocked kitchen
