The Role
No two days are the same.
Depending on the needs of each household, your responsibilities may include:
- School and nursery drop-offs and pick-ups.
- Providing engaging, age-appropriate childcare.
- Preparing healthy family meals and batch cooking for the week ahead.
- Organising kitchens, pantries and household spaces.
- Grocery shopping and light household errands.
- Supporting busy parents with day-to-day family logistics.
- Assisting with laundry and general household organisation.
- Helping maintain kitchen gardens and raised beds.
- Harvesting fresh produce and preparing weekly harvest baskets.
- Supporting children with gardening, nature activities and outdoor learning.
We're Looking For People Who:
- Have experience caring for children or supporting families.
- Are warm, professional and emotionally intelligent.
- Take initiative and enjoy solving problems independently.
- Are organised, dependable and trustworthy.
- Are comfortable preparing nutritious family meals.
- Enjoy gardening or have an interest in growing food (desirable but not essential).
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Respect confidentiality and client privacy at all times.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Access to your own reliable vehicle.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Ability to travel to client homes.
- Satisfactory references.
DBS
An enhanced DBS certificate is preferred.
If you do not currently hold an in-date DBS certificate, Root & Nest may fund one for the right candidate.
Desirable Experience
Experience in one or more of the following is highly valued:
- Childcare or nannying.
- Teaching or nursery work.
- Family PA or household management.
- Meal preparation or cooking.
- Gardening or horticulture.
- Organic food growing.
- Nutrition or healthy eating.
- SEN experience.
- First Aid qualification.
