Ockenden Manor Hotel has a vacancy for a full-time bookkeeper and accounts administrator. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the Historic Sussex Hotels companies. The hotel operates a 27-bedroom luxury country house hotel and spa with around 500 members.
This is a prestigious and interesting key role in the smooth running of the hotel, maintaining accurate financial records and providing support to the management team.
We are seeking a person who is very well organised, has strong numeracy skills and a professional attitude, gets on well with others and is also able to work on their own.
Key responsibilities include
· Daily cash management and control, including bank reconciliation
· Processing four weekly payroll for approximately 100 staff members; a combination of hourly paid and salaried employees
· Managing and processing Auto-Enrolment and company pension schemes
· Operating the gratuity (tronc) scheme (automatically a member of the tronc committee)
· Ensuring remittance of PAYE, NI and other statutory deductions on time
· Controlling staff holiday charts and administering holiday pay entitlements
· Ensuring compliance with National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage legislation
· Accounting for live-in staff key money and electricity payments
· Preparation and submission of VAT returns and reconciliation of control account
· Four weekly reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts
· Weekly reporting of revenue and key performance indicators to management
· Sales ledger and credit control
· Validating and processing of supplier invoices
· Maintaining the purchase ledger and processing supplier payments
Personal skills
· Strong numerical and analytical skills with an attention to detail
· Well organised and methodical both in how records are maintained and approach to tasks
· Good communicator at all levels, internally and externally, written and verbal
· Works well as part of a team
Required experience
· At least five years’ relevant experience of working in a responsible position in a busy office environment.
· Strong payroll experience
· Proficient with accounting and payroll software
· Strong Microsoft Excel experience
· Sector experience an advantage, although not essential
· Recognised accountancy qualification an advantage
Pay: £28,000.00 per year
