Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a thorough understanding of food safety standards. Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, fostering a positive and productive working environment
- Oversee food production, ensuring dishes meet quality standards and presentation expectations
- Develop innovative menus in collaboration with management, considering seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
- Manage food preparation and cooking processes to ensure efficiency and consistency
- Ensure compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and control costs to optimise kitchen operations
- Train and mentor junior staff, promoting professional development and skill enhancement
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
- Maintain organised kitchen workflows during busy service periods
- Uphold organisational policies regarding health & safety, allergen management, and food handling procedures
Qualifications
- Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment, ideally in a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food preparation and cooking techniques
- Demonstrable leadership abilities with experience managing teams in high-pressure environments
- Solid understanding of food safety standards and regulations (e.g., HACCP)
- Previous experience in menu development and food presentation
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Strong communication skills to lead staff and collaborate with management teams
- Knowledge of hospitality operations including serving procedures is advantageous
- Formal culinary qualifications or relevant certifications are preferred but not essential for highly experienced candidates
