The Role
The Buyer will own designated categories and supplier relationships with responsibility for delivering commercially successful, brand-right ranges across sales, margin and stock.
This is a hands-on role combining strong product instinct with commercial rigour. Working closely with the a variety of stakeholders including the Founder, Merchandising, Product Development/Design, Supply Chain, eCommerce and Marketing, the Buyer will lead range planning, supplier negotiations, trading and critical path delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Range & Commercial Planning
- Own range planning across designated categories, ensuring a balanced, commercially compelling assortment aligned with brand objectives.
- Identify product and range opportunities using sales data, customer insight, competitor activity and market trends.
- Own product commercials including pricing, landed cost, margin, MOQ, lead time and sales potential.
- Work with Merchandising to manage OTB, stock investment and range depth.
- Own sales, margin and stock performance, reacting quickly to trading opportunities and risks.
- Lead weekly trade meetings and use performance data to inform repeat buys, range changes and future development.
Supplier Management & Product Delivery
- Own day-to-day relationships and negotiations with designated suppliers, including cost prices, MOQs, payment terms and lead times.
- Maintain supplier scorecards and reviews, identifying opportunities to improve performance, terms and reduce risk.
- Identify and assess new suppliers where required.
- Own the buying critical path for new ranges and launches.
- Lead the commercial development of range expansions and curated products from concept through to production and launch.
- Take ownership of in-house designed products following design sign-off.
- Lead packaging sourcing and ensure product presentation meets brand, customer and commercial requirements.
Cross-Functional Working
- Work closely with the Founder, Head of Product and Product Development & Design to translate brand vision into commercially successful ranges.
- Partner with Merchandising, Supply Chain, eCommerce and Marketing to deliver launches and maximise product performance.
- Ensure accurate product, supplier and launch information is communicated clearly across the business.
- Support and develop junior colleagues
About You
- Experience as a Buyer or experienced Junior Buyer, ideally within homeware, interiors, luxury or premium lifestyle.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience delivering sales, margin and stock targets.
- Experience in range planning, pricing, costing and supplier negotiation.
- Strong analytical skills and confidence using sales and stock data to make decisions.
- Highly organised, with experience managing multiple critical paths and launches.
- Strong product instinct and genuine interest in interiors and craftsmanship-led design.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Collaborative, proactive and solutions-focused.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial business.
- Digitally confident, with an interest in using technology and AI to improve efficiency.
