Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated After-school Children's Teacher specialising in Dance, Sport, Yoga, or Art to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching and coaching children, with a focus on fostering creativity, physical activity, and personal development.
QTS or Teaching Assistant (TA) qualification is preferable, alongside an enhanced DBS, public liability insurance and first aid and safeguarding training. Relevant experience in sports coaching or arts education. The position is paid and suitable for individuals committed to nurturing children's growth in a supportive environment.
Duties
- Plan and deliver engaging after-school sessions in dance, sport, yoga, or art tailored to various age groups and abilities
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participation and confidence among children
- Support children’s physical development through structured activities that incorporate anatomy knowledge and movement principles
- Monitor children’s behaviour and ensure their safety during activities at all times
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop programme content that aligns with curriculum standards and organisational goals
- Maintain a clean and organised activity space, ensuring all equipment is used safely and appropriately
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding children's progress and behaviour when required
- Assist with organising special events or performances related to the programme offerings
Skills
- Proven experience in sports coaching, dance instruction, yoga teaching, or arts education with children
- Strong teaching skills with the ability to adapt activities for diverse learning needs and abilities
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to movement-based activities to ensure safe practice and injury prevention
- Excellent organisational skills to plan engaging sessions and manage multiple groups simultaneously
- Ability to motivate children, fostering confidence and enthusiasm in their learning journey
- Effective communication skills for liaising with colleagues, parents, and children alike
- A caring attitude combined with patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with young learners
