Role Overview
The Tunnel House Inn is looking for a reliable, motivated and professional Line Cook / Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking and serving food to company standards while maintaining excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen discipline.
This role would suit someone with previous experience in a busy kitchen environment who takes pride in their work, works well as part of a team and understands the importance of consistency, speed, quality and respect in the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present dishes to the required company standards.
- Work effectively on your section during service, ensuring food is served on time and to specification.
- Carry out daily food preparation tasks as directed by the Head Chef or senior kitchen team.
- Follow all recipes, portion controls, presentation standards and kitchen procedures.
- Ensure all food is handled, stored, prepared and cooked safely and legally.
- Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and organisation at all times.
- Follow all health & safety, food safety and allergen procedures.
- Support stock rotation, labelling, date coding and minimising food waste.
- Keep your section clean, tidy and ready for service.
- Assist with deliveries, stock checks and kitchen cleaning duties as required.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with kitchen and front-of-house colleagues.
- Work as part of the wider team to deliver a great guest experience.
- Represent The Tunnel House Inn positively at all times and act as an ambassador for the business.
About You
You will be:
- Experienced in a professional kitchen, ideally at line cook, commis chef or chef de partie level.
- Confident with basic food preparation, cooking techniques and working on a busy section.
- Reliable, punctual and well organised.
- Able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
- A team player with a respectful and positive attitude.
- Committed to high standards of food quality, hygiene and cleanliness.
- Willing to learn, take direction and support the wider kitchen team.
- Flexible and available to work across weekdays, evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.
Essential Requirements
- Previous kitchen experience.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling.
- Ability to work 48 hours per week across a 7-day rota.
- Strong communication skills and a professional attitude.
Desirable
- Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate, or willingness to complete training.
- Experience working in a fresh food pub, restaurant or similar environment.
- Experience running a section during service.
