£34,000 | Full Time | Permanent
Bollington Brewing Co. is seeking a driven, standards-focused General Manager to lead our brewery Taproom at Brook Mill in Macclesfield.
Our Taproom is the public face of the brewery. It showcases our cask and keg beers, hosts live music and events, and serves as a welcoming hub for the local community and visiting beer enthusiasts.
Cask quality is central to who we are. We are looking for a hospitality leader with strong operational discipline, initiative and genuine knowledge and passion for cask ale and cellar management.
The Role
As General Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and performance of the Taproom.
The Taproom is currently open:
- Wednesday to Friday 4pm to 11pm
- Saturday 12pm to 11pm
- Sunday 12pm to 8pm
We are looking to extend Friday trading to daytime and may increase late trading for private events and parties.
This is a full-time leadership role requiring regular weekend presence. The General Manager will work five days over seven and should expect to work most weekends in line with trading needs. Hours will vary according to the needs of the business and may be up to 45 hours per week.
You will:
- Lead, motivate and manage the team, setting clear expectations and holding standards
- Drive a positive, accountable team culture
- Take full ownership of stock management, ordering and margin control
- Protect GP through disciplined stock control and wastage reduction
- Be personally responsible for cellar standards and cask quality
- Ensure beer lines and cellar procedures are maintained to best practice at all times
- Oversee rotas, labour organisation and operational efficiency
- Deliver consistent service standards and strong customer experience
- Support and execute events professionally
- Represent the brewery brand with credibility and pride
You will work closely with an experienced Operations Manager and wider brewery leadership team, who provide commercial and strategic support. However, this role requires someone who leads from the front and takes initiative to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in a hospitality management role within a wet-led environment
- Has strong practical knowledge of cask ale and cellar management
- Understands how to maintain cask quality from delivery through to dispense
- Has experience managing stock, margins and operational controls
- Is confident leading and developing a team
- Has a strong work ethic and takes pride in high standards
- Is commercially aware, organised and solution focused
Formal cellar training or significant hands-on cellar experience is highly desirable.
You may already be a General Manager or a strong Deputy ready to step up. What matters most is your operational competence, leadership presence and genuine passion for quality beer.
