2. Job Summary
The role sits within the Corporate Stewardship team (CS team), which has overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with the Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) requirements associated with our site permits and our Integrated Management System; and are custodians of the sustainability aspirations of the company through our Environmental Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) commitments.
In your role as an HSEQ Advisor, you will be working directly with the site team to ensure compliance and support the operational functions maintaining high standards of safety, general health and environmental compliance.
3. Key Responsibilities
· Provide HSEQ support and advise to the business operations as specified by the Group Head of HSEQ to ensure compliance and standards are maintained; and promote procedural changes to align with good, safe working practices.
· Develop a good working knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality systems and procedures at the sites supported.
· Develop a good working knowledge of operational roles and operating procedures at the sites supported.
· Conduct regular safety inspections of sites supported and assist site management to implement improvements.
· Collaborate with Site management to ensure safety alerts and toolbox talks are delivered to all employees.
· Provide support to the development and review of all operational, including off-site working, risk assessments, safe systems of work, method statements and procedures.
· Assist site management with the Management of Change process when/if needed.
· Checking that safe work practices are being followed (through audits, spot checks and observations, including off-site operations) and supporting management to fix problems and update documents/processes if needed.
· Interrogating incident trends, near misses, and safety behaviours to identify patterns and implement improvements.
· Assist departments with incident/accident investigations, corrective actions and making sure they’re closed out appropriately.
· Assisting with planning and running emergency drills and tabletop exercises.
· Supporting internal and external audits, assisting site management with preparation and follow-up actions.
· Monitoring the schedule for the plant items and hosting insurance inspection visits – i.e. LOLER/PUWER/PPM etc and ensure that checks are made in the appropriate timeframe.
· Monitoring of the supplier/contractor HSEQ records and updating where necessary (Insurances, certifications, ISO certs, etc).
· Maintaining and updating the HSEQ noticeboard (office reception) ensuring validity of displayed company certifications.
· Assist the induction of new employees, visitors and contractors onto site with regards to HSEQ matters.
· Supporting the control of contractors’ process/permit to work documentation for contractors.
· Supporting in document control.
· Support in the ESG projects and site-based KPIs and targets.
· Support in legionella, COSHH management, first aid box checks.
· HSEQ Committee meetings involvement.
· Provide HSEQ stats to site team meetings.
· Proactively support and embed a proactive safety culture through positive engagement on site and throughout Augean’s activities.
· Ensure internal stakeholders are kept informed of upcoming and new requirements regarding HSEQ.
· Assist in proactive management of regulatory issues and the preparation of effective and timely responses to regulatory queries and inspections.
4. Critical Qualifications/Requirements
· Nebosh General Certificate in Occupational H&S.
· Strong working knowledge of HSE legislation and Management Standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
· Environmental awareness training.
· Strong IT skills across the Office 365 portfolio.
· Able to articulate well and write clearly and concisely using factual based observation.
· Full UK driving licence, willingness to travel.
