An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced EL/PL Portal Claims Handler to join a well-established and highly regarded claimant personal injury law firm. This role is ideal for someone with experience managing Employers' Liability and Public Liability Portal claims who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative team.
You will be responsible for managing your own caseload of low-value EL/PL Portal claims from inception through to settlement, ensuring excellent client care and progressing matters efficiently through all stages of the claims process.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of EL/PL Portal personal injury claims.
Review initial case information and assess prospects of success.
Monitor and record key dates, including limitation periods.
Prepare allegations of negligence and complete Claim Notification Forms via the EL/PL Portal.
Progress claims through all Portal stages, including Stages 2 and 3.
Obtain and liaise with medical experts and other professional experts.
Negotiate with insurers, solicitors, counsel and other third parties.
Value general damages and assess special damages, including loss of earnings, care, assistance and other financial losses.
Prepare schedules of special damages.
Prepare Part 8 proceedings where required.
Prepare files, trial bundles and instructions to counsel for Stage 3 hearings.
Provide regular updates to clients and management.
Handle client enquiries professionally and deliver a high standard of customer service.
Support colleagues and assist with other duties as required.
About You
To be considered for this role, you should have:
A minimum of 1 year's experience handling EL/PL Portal claims.
Experience managing claims through Stages 1, 2 and 3.
Strong knowledge of personal injury claims processes and Portal procedures.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
A positive, proactive and team-oriented approach.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
The ability to work to deadlines while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
