We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented RTA Portal Fee Earner (on-site) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a dedicated caseload of approximately 220 RTA and OIC files, progressing claims for drivers, passengers, and pedestrians through Stages 1, 2, and 3 of the MOJ and Official Injury Claims portals, including infant approvals.
As a core member of the personal injury team, the role holder must deliver exceptional client service by providing regular updates in line with department SLAs while remaining strictly accountable for meeting individual financial and file-progression targets.
What you will be doing
- Use the A2A Claims Portal and OIC Portal to complete and send Claims Notification Forms to Defendants
- Contact members to obtain further information regarding claims, or updating them on their case.
- Advise clients on mitigation of losses, general portal process and time limits, and simple quantum queries.
- Provide instructions to medical agencies, chase medical appointments, review medical reports and forward reports to clients
- Collate and calculate special damages and draft stage 2 packs including requesting details of Loss Of Earnings from employers
- Deal with queries from third party solicitors, insurers and defendants
- Identify third parties and third party insurers
- Undertake a variety of searches including Medco, Askmid and Askcuepi.
- Identify witnesses to accidents
- Forward CRU details to third party insurers
- Conduct legal research through online research platforms, including in relation to quantum and liability
- Ensure all information held is accurate and up to date and the business case management system is kept up to date
- Progress clients claims proactively, in line with the low value personal injury protocol.
- Value PI claims competently & utilising JSB guidelines/case law where appropriate; to effectively investigate, collate/calculate and present special damages claims (including future loss).
- Appropriately involve the Portal Supervisor / Team Manager where input on technical matters and operational issues are warranted.
- Plan workload in order to anticipate and balance priorities
- Maintain an awareness of changes in legislation, practice and procedure
- Ensure that all correspondence and messages are dealt with appropriately, within prescribed SLAs, providing excellent client service
- Ensure that all clients, on all occasions, are treated with courtesy and dealt with expeditiously
- Be responsible for identifying own development needs and discussing these with their supervisor.
What we're looking for
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to facilitate clear interactions with clients and colleagues
- Legal qualification, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of all aspects of RTA personal injury portal claims
- Strong understanding of RTA scenarios, liability and PI procedures
- Excellent knowledge of civil procedure rules and tactics
- Experience of delivering against agreed financial and file targets
- Experience working to strict deadlines and SLAs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and familiarity with IT systems used for claim processing
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently within tight deadlines
- Good understanding of time management principles to ensure accuracy and punctuality in submissions
