Role Overview
We are currently seeking experienced Mental Health Nurses for Secure Transport to join our growing team. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in mental health, secure transport, healthcare, or emergency services who are passionate about providing person centred, trauma informed care. You will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, respectful, and supportive transport of service users, many of whom may be in crisis or experiencing complex mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, dignified, and compassionate transport for individuals with mental health needs
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including clinical staff and police
- Apply de-escalation, communication, and trauma-informed approaches effectively
- Drive and operate company vehicles safely in accordance with road laws and company policies
- Assist with mobility, manual handling, and safe securing of service users during transit
- Support calm and professional handovers to receiving services
- Maintain accurate documentation and records
- Ensure vehicles meet cleanliness, infection control, and safety standards
- Uphold a respectful, non-judgemental, and caring approach at all times
Person Specification Essential Requirements
- Registered Mental Health Nurse
- Previous experience working with individuals with mental health needs, behavioural challenges, or crisis presentations
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good understanding of spoken and written English
- Strong commitment to compassionate, person-centred care
Desirable (Highly Preferred)
- PMVA certification (or equivalent physical intervention training)
- Experience in secure transport, patient transport, healthcare, ambulance services, or emergency service
