SEN Teaching Assistant | SEND Teaching Assistant | Learning Support Assistant
We are recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Camden supporting children and young people aged 5-16 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs).
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, or someone with a background in care, youth work, or SEND support looking to progress within specialist education.
The school provides personalised learning, therapeutic support, and small class sizes to ensure every student can achieve their full potential.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside Teachers, SENCOs, Therapists, and Behaviour Support staff to support pupils both academically and emotionally.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 SEN support and small group interventions
- Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD and SEMH needs
- Assisting with learning activities and classroom engagement
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
- Promoting independence, confidence and social development
- Supporting pupils during lessons, break times and enrichment activities
About You
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Experience working with children or young people
- Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Support Worker or Care Worker
- Knowledge of Autism (ASD), ADHD and SEMH needs
- A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs
