About REXREX is an established solar energy business undertaking the design and installation of solar PV and battery-storage systems across residential and commercial sites. As our workload continues to increase month by month, we are looking to strengthen our technical capability and secure MCS certification to support the continued growth of the business.We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced electrical and renewable-energy professional to act as our Nominated Technical Person for MCS certification covering solar PV and electrical energy-storage systems.This is initially a part-time employed position, with the hours and level of involvement reflecting our current workload. Our workload is increasing month by month, so we expect the role and working hours to grow as the business develops. We are not immediately looking to make a full-time appointment, but there will be an opportunity for the position to expand in the future.The successful person will be responsible for making sure that our surveying, design, installation, testing, commissioning, DNO notification and customer handover work is carried out safely and correctly, in line with current industry standards and regulations. This includes MCS requirements such as MIS 3002 and MIS 3012, BS 7671 Wiring Regulations, relevant Building Regulations, IET Codes of Practice, DNO requirements and manufacturers’ instructions.The role requires full electrician qualifications, along with an NVQ or equivalent recognised qualifications in solar PV and battery-storage systems.Applicants should have current recognised electrical qualifications, including BS 7671 competence, suitable inspection and testing competence, and MCS-approved or Certification Body-accepted qualifications for both solar PV and battery-storage design and installation. Qualifications should be current within the relevant five-year competence cycle, or the applicant must be willing to complete an approved reassessment.The person must have demonstrable practical experience with residential and commercial solar PV and battery systems, including:
- System surveys and technical design
- Installation oversight
- Inspection, testing and commissioning
- G98, G99 and G100 processes
- DNO applications and notifications
- MCS documentation and certification
- Quality assurance and technical file reviews
- Customer handover requirements
- Supporting MCS assessments and surveillance visits
The appointed person must be available for sufficient hours to provide genuine and effective technical oversight of our installations. This is not a name-only or qualification-hire arrangement: the successful applicant will be actively involved in reviewing work, maintaining technical standards, supporting the installation team and helping the company achieve and maintain MCS certification.We are looking for somebody who can work flexibly with us at our present level of activity and who is interested in developing a longer-term role as our monthly installation volume increases.Appointment will be subject to our chosen MCS Certification Body confirming acceptance of the applicant’s qualifications, competence evidence and proposed part-time working arrangement.
Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
