About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and practical Maintenance Operative to join our friendly care home team. You’ll play a vital role in keeping our building safe, comfortable, and well-maintained for residents, visitors, and staff.
As part of the Maintenance Team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of all buildings across Priory Mews. In addition to being a valued team member, each Maintenance Operative has individual responsibility for designated buildings within the Priory Mews site, taking ownership of their maintenance, safety, and presentation. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities
· Carrying out day-to-day maintenance, repairs, and minor refurbishments
· Ensuring the care home is safe, secure, and compliant with health & safety standards
· Completing regular checks on equipment, lighting, plumbing, and heating
· Responding promptly to maintenance requests
· Liaising with external contractors when required
· Maintaining accurate records of work completed
· Supporting general upkeep of the building and grounds
What We’re Looking For
· Previous experience in a maintenance or handyman role (preferred)
· Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrics, and general building maintenance
· A proactive and problem-solving approach
· Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
· Good communication skills and a friendly, respectful manner
· Understanding of health & safety requirements
· Experience in a care home or similar environment (desirable, but not essential)
