Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Fish and Chip Shop Assistant to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food service, with a keen interest in culinary preparation and customer interaction. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced environment, ensuring customers enjoy an authentic fish and chip experience. Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. Duties
- Serve customers at the counter, taking orders accurately and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area, including kitchen surfaces.
- Handle cash transactions, operate the till, and provide correct change
- Upsell additional menu items to maximise sales opportunities
- Ensure food safety standards are adhered to at all times
- Assist with stock rotation and inventory checks to ensure freshness of ingredients
- Provide friendly and attentive service to all customers, creating a welcoming atmosphere
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operations
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation or restaurant service is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and hygiene standards is desirable
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanour when interacting with customers
- Willingness to learn new skills related to culinary preparation and customer service
- Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if required
